Teaching Quality Standard 2. Teachers establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students. Level: Developing

Element B: Teachers demonstrate an awareness of, a commitment to, and respect for multiple aspects of diversity, while working toward common goals as a community of learners.

Reasoning Statement: I am not a teacher on my own yet and have not been able to plan a daily schedule to create predictability or have contact with students' families. Creating an inclusive learning environment for my students is extremely important to me and I still have so much to learn about it. I have been actively looking for ways to create more inclusive environments in the art room like showing art  and artists from different cultural backgrounds and talking about cultural appropriation in artwork.

Element C: Teachers engage students as individuals, including those with diverse needs and interests, across a range of ability levels by adapting their teaching for the benefit of all students.

Reasoning Statement: Participating in the Thompson Valley AVID program gave me the chance to work with students who may need extra support in different areas of their academics. This also provided me with the opportunity to work with students who may not all be taking art classes. This was a great learning experience for me to come up with different ways to help students learn.
